Job Summary:

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking outstanding candidates for an open rank tenure-track faculty position. Desirable candidates should be able to (a) secure extramural funding to support distinguished research in an area of Kinesiology, (b) publish research in high-quality refereed journals, (c) provide exemplary graduate student training and undergraduate instruction, (d) teach courses within our Kinesiology majors, with an emphasis on aging and health.

Responsibilities:

1) Pursue extramural funding to support research
2) Publish research in high quality refereed scientific journals
3) Mentor/advise graduate and undergraduate students
4) Teach graduate and undergraduate courses within the Department of Kinesiology
5) Participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts within the Department of Kinesiology, with other departments, schools, and colleges on campus.
6) Participate in faculty governance and other service to the university, department, and profession.

Education:

Required
PhD in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, and/or related fields. Earned doctorate by August 2025.

Qualifications:

1. Expertise in the study of physical activity, movement and/or occupation as it relates to healthy aging/lifespan (healthspan) and well-being. Possible areas of expertise include (but are not limited to):
o Relationship between physical activity, movement and/or occupation and the social, behavioral, psychological, and/or physiological determinants of health
o Biomarkers of health
o New technologies (AI or robotics)
o Caregiving, social supports, and connection across the lifespan
2. Post-doctoral research experience (preferred).
3. For applicants at the Assistant Professor level - evidence of established scholarship and potential for securing extramural funding
4. For applicants at the Associate or Full Professor level - evidence of scholarship with international significance and record of securing substantial extramural funding
5. Record of publication in high-quality refereed scientific journals
6. Evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level (preferred).

The Department of Kinesiology is a multidisciplinary department that includes undergraduate programs in Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Health Promotion and Health Equity as well as nationally ranked graduate programs in Exercise and Movement Science, Athletic Training, and Occupational Therapy. Graduates of our programs have gone on to careers as some of the most prominent researchers and scholars in the field, and leaders within their respective professions.
