About the opportunity:

SWCA is seeking a dependable and motivated Environmental Inspection Coordinator - Hydrology to work remotely half-time and paid on an hourly basis. Work hours will range from 20 to 25 hours per week. This position will be responsible for construction coordination of river, aquatic habitat, floodplain, and fish passage restoration projects primarily in Montana with opportunities in Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Wyoming.

What you will accomplish:

• Demonstrates strong technical and regulatory knowledge related to environmental resources management and construction procedures for multi-discipline projects
• Leads compliance projects/tasks from start to finish, with guidance (PM for medium projects or Task
• Lead for large projects); serves as most senior SWCA representative in the field
• Assigns and communicate technical needs and project tasks to project team members
• Manages workflow, data flow, and scheduling
• Communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing with SWCA staff, contractors, landowners, clients, watershed groups, and government agencies.
• Reviews and tracks variance requests
• Oversees and performs QA/QC, organization, and tracking to ensure project requirements are met
• Manages quality and completeness of data collection and report completion from start to finish
• Performs mid-level technical peer review of documents
• Adeptly interfaces with clients and agencies related to specific tasks to ensure needs and objectives are met; serves as a point of contact in the field for client PM, contractor superintendent, regulatory agency personnel, and third-party inspectors
• Represents SWCA at client and agency meetings in the field
• Contributes to technical standards for sub-region
• Prepares and ensures implementation of the safety plan

Experience and qualifications for success:

• B.S. degree in hydrology, water resources, fluvial geomorphology or related field
• 7 years of relevant experience
• Proficient in overseeing channel, fish passage, floodplain, and aquatic habitat restoration projects utilizing RtK GPS and standard field construction techniques.
• Ability to walk and carry equipment for long distances in the field in varied terrain.

• Must have valid driver's license and able to meet SWCA’s driver requirements.

• Willingness to travel for extended periods to project sites.

An employee for this Whitefish, MT -based position can expect an hourly base pay rate of $35.00/hour to $52.00/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
